What is BoraPhone?

BoraPhone is a browser-based international calling service. You sign up with an email address, type a phone number, see the exact per-minute rate for that country before you dial, and call. The person you call answers on their normal landline or mobile and needs nothing installed. It runs in Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge on any computer, tablet or phone, so it works on a work laptop, a Chromebook, hotel Wi-Fi, or when your own phone is lost or has no signal.

Pricing is pay as you go: credit from $5, rates from $0.02 per minute, billed per minute and rounded up, no connection fee, no plans, no bundles and nothing that auto-renews. Rates come from live carrier pricing and every country page shows the landline and mobile price. Failed calls are refunded. Your first call is free, with no card required.

Other features: verified caller ID so people see your own number, Google Contacts import, a rate calculator, team accounts for businesses, and per-country dialing guides with country codes, area codes and the best time to call.

What it is not: there is no native mobile app (the dialer runs in the phone's browser), there are no unlimited plans, and calls between two BoraPhone users are not a feature. Heavy callers to a single country may pay less on a flat unlimited plan elsewhere. BoraPhone is for people who call several countries, call occasionally, or need to reach a landline, hotel, bank or office that messaging apps cannot.
