I like Bluesky, and it's open source, and I hope politicians can switch to Bluesky and celebrities can switch to Bluesky instead of Twitter.

Bluesky is for the far left what Gab is for the far right. It is like pre-Musk Twitter turned up to 11.

Paul

Far-left? Bluesky was created by billionaire Jack Dorsey, and is backed by private investors and venture capital firms, so I don't really see how it's “far-left”… It will probably know the same future as X/Twitter, unless it just dies on its own through lack of user activity.

It is a far left cesspool much in the the Gab is a far right cesspool, spend 5 minutes on Bluesky and you will see what I mean if you have any sense. Bluesky will die out of lack of reason for it to exist. Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, Youtube, TikTok all own the market in their social media sub genre, nobody can break through that. It is like someone trying to complete directly with the NHL, NBA, UFC, NFL, Premier League, you can try but you will fail. Jack Dorsey ruined Twitter, I was on there from 2008/9 to 2015 it used to be all about fandoms getting together to share their love and ideas but that arsehole pushed the left wing shit and is the reason why it is now called X because the Twitter name left a bad taste in peoples mouth.

What is "far left" anyway? Because as a libertarian everyone who is a statist is on the right of me. More free = left, less free = right. More coercion = right. Less coercion = left. I am a major donor (funny how people call it dark money but nobody ever asked me where my money goes to) to the likes of Cato, IJ, and Pac Legal, but also NWIRP, NIPNLG, but not the ADL because they went off the crazy cliff. I believe that taxation is theft and China is not a threat and can back both up. I believe the police is a malevolent force that the 2nd Amendment foresaw and was written to curtail. I have a master's thesis rejecting Gramsci as just another imperialist. Am I a leftist? I'm certainly not on the right. But no "far left" would consider me part of their ilk since I'm anti-union (2 wrongs don't make a right), anti-tariff, pro-open-borders-for-reals, and think Liz Warren is nuts.

All that to say, these labels are meaningless. Are you an individual or do you just follow what randos on the internets tell you? Here's a secret: it doesn't matter. Never trust, verify. Have you been verifying lately?

(And also, you seem to not know how Bluesky actually work. Like, not at all. The least you can do is look at the code. Not all of it is open source but the parts that aren't, well, don't really matter, it's the synactic sugar for a more diffused protocol upon which Bluesky is one implementation - not the only implementation. You can start Bluesky - Gab edition tomorrow. There's a docker container for that.)

Or are you still on Myspace? Xanga? Livejournal? "My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings; Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!” Except Jack Dorsey handed off to ev from 2008 to 2011. I was on Twitter before then, and I'm still on it today, although it's a lot less interesting. Funny how it took 4 years to ruin something that you don't know what the un-ruined version looked like, eh?

Read Frederich Hayak's "Why I Am Not A Conservative". He gets every point right. 60 years ago during his Nobel speech. Once again, he's spot on.

You should review the software, not it's contents. You can choose what content you want to see by muting, blocking and following. Every signifikant platform has it's far-right, far-left bullcrap anyway... if you don't like it, then don't look at it. Seems like you're the one who keep looking at this political far-nonsense. It's either this extreme or that extreme... nothing in-between, it seems. (If you keep looking at this - And no, I don't, I barely use social media anyway, I'm tired of either far-nonsense "discussions", any form of extreme is bad, by the way.) Anyway, have a good day, sir.

I don't use any social platforms at all anymore but if you go on any there first think you will always see is political nonsense from with the left vs right arguments despite the the politicians of the left or right being the exact same as each other the public still likes to fight for "leaders" that don't care about them. Yes, you can add filters to avoid seeing certain content containing certain words but it is easily just to not use the platforms. It doesn't matter if all you follow is crochet accounts the platform wants you to be on one political side of the same bum cheek.

BlueSky ( @moderation-tr.bsky.app ) restricted the account of a person ( https://bsky.app/profile/carekavga.bsky.social ) who posted about anti-government protests in Türkiye. In Türkiye, the government was blocking access to X (Twitter) even if it had 1 or a million followers. People switching to BlueSky have the same concern.

Bluesky is quickly turning into my favorite social media platform at the moment. It's open source, technically decentralized, and very fun. It has a good set of features – it lets you quote posts, unlike Mastodon, though I'm still hoping for the option to save them – and some of them are particularly enjoyable, such as the feeds. The default feeds are excellently sensible (a discover feed and people you follow, for example), but you can follow or create others at will. The look and feel is excellent – very reminiscent of Twitter in the good old days. Honestly can't complain. I hope it stays this good.

Better than X, worse than Mastodon in some regards. It's easy to use, has some novel features. The majority stakeholder of Bluesky is a crypto investment fund. They have led several rounds to get venture capitalists to invest in Bsky. VCs want a huge return on investment. This greed has led to the corruption and ensh*ttification on every centralized, business-owned platform we know. Mastodon is everything that Bsky claims to be, including actually being billionaire-proof.

By "certain perspectives" this commenter actually means content that promotes nazism and persecution of people for their race, sexuality, or gender.

I changed how i see news, i don't agree with him anymore. But if the video is truthful, its still stands.

While not perfect functionality wise yet (you can't edit your posts as of now), it's a good alternative to Twitter and a good platform for creatives (artists, photographers, bloggers, etc).

Just like how Gab is full of far right nonsense, Bluesky is full of far left nonsense.

Bluesky is a new social network for microblogging.

The web. Email. RSS feeds. XMPP chats. What all these technologies had in common is they allowed people to freely interact and create content, without a single intermediary.

We‘re building the AT Protocol, a new foundation for social networking which gives creators independence from platforms, developers the freedom to build, and users a choice in their experience.
