I like that Bit.ly enables custom url's. It also has a good interface for seeing stats if that is of interest..
TinyURL also allows for customization of the URL ending.

You can't delete your links (if you edit them). Your links are permanent and outside of your control.
Bitly gave me the error message, "You've reached our hourly rate limit for shortens," but I just made my account, so I haven't shortened anything yet.

Update 2019-02-04: Bitly has not yet answered my email from 2018-08-05, but I no longer get the error message.

this one is good, alternative of Google URL Shortener
I use bit.ly and I am satisfied.
All goo.gl URLs and click analytics are public and can be accessed by anyone. Shorten, share and track your urls
I've seen this shortener for a domain that would all me to write something like
goog.sc/lucid+dreaming+FAQ
which then makes a google search for that query.
Any thoughts what I can replace "goog.sc" with? :)
