What is QR Cake?

QR Cake is a dynamic QR code platform where every code stays editable after it has been printed. The QR image itself never changes; the destination behind it can be updated at any time from the dashboard, so a menu, brochure, or product label never needs reprinting when its content moves.

The free plan includes 5 dynamic QR codes with unlimited scans and no credit card required, and free codes never expire. There is no trial timer that deactivates printed codes, which is the most common complaint with free QR generators. The trade-off is stated plainly: scans on the free plan show a brief ad page before redirecting, and paid plans (from $2.99/month, each with a 7-day free trial) remove the ad, raise the code limit, and add scan analytics with counts, timing, locations, and devices. Cancelling a paid plan does not deactivate codes; they keep working and return to the free-tier ad behaviour.

Supported QR types go beyond URLs: PDF documents, images, video, audio, file downloads, link lists (link-in-bio style), digital business cards (vCard), and review-collection codes for Google or Trustpilot. Files are hosted by the service and open directly on the scanner's phone with nothing to install. Design options include colors, gradients, a center logo, corner-eye styles, and frame shapes, with export as print-ready PNG or scalable SVG.

QR Cake runs in the browser with no install, and also offers an official Canva app, Adobe Express add-on, and Chrome extension, plus a REST API with an OpenAPI spec for programmatic use.
