What is BigOceanData?

BigOceanData is a maritime technology platform built around global AIS vessel tracking and fleet monitoring for shipowners, operators, managers and other professional maritime teams.

Its vessel-tracking capability combines terrestrial and satellite AIS in one operational view, with alerts, geofencing, port and anchorage monitoring, historical vessel movements and voyage replay. For vessels under a customer’s control, Inmarsat-C and Iridium position reporting can also help maintain visibility when AIS coverage is limited.

Alongside vessel tracking, BigOceanData provides Ship Security Alert System (SSAS) management, enabling teams to receive, distribute and record live and test security alerts together with vessel position and track context, while supporting SOLAS and ISPS compliance requirements.

BigOceanData also offers Route Optimisation, combining weather-aware routing, vessel performance modelling and operational constraints to help teams compare voyage options against fuel consumption, cost, ETA, voyage time and emissions. The capability is built on ABB Ability™ Vessel Routing technology and connects voyage planning with live operational visibility.

Together, Vessel Tracking, SSAS, Route Optimisation and Maritime Intelligence give maritime teams a connected workspace for fleet visibility, security, voyage planning and operational decision-making.
