Balcony Plants

Balcony Plants (balconyplants.co) is a web tool for people who grow potted plants on a balcony. It does two things. It suggests plants that suit your balcony and where to put each one. Then it warns you before the weather puts one of them in danger.

Your weather app gives the temperature for your city, measured in the shade. Your balcony can be very different. On a sunny afternoon, a south-west-facing balcony can be 8 to 12°C hotter than the forecast, by Balcony Plants' estimate. A pot on a high, open floor can get colder than the forecast low on a clear night. Balcony Plants works this out from the forecast, which way your balcony faces, and what floor you're on.

Setup is four answers: your city, which way your balcony faces, your floor, and your plants. For each plant, you get a short verdict, the reason, and one thing to do. You don't need an app or an account to try it.

The first check and the plant picker are free. The season pass is $9.99, paid once, with no subscription. It adds daily verdicts for all your plants and an email the day before one is in danger.
