What is autofetch?

autofetch is a web-managed download automation service that combines search, persistent watches and local download execution.

Instead of starting only from an existing download URL, users can define what they are looking for and let autofetch monitor supported sources until a matching item becomes available. Sources currently include media libraries, RSS and JSON feeds, GitHub and GitLab releases, and IRC/XDCC.

When a match is found, autofetch creates a download job and sends it to a connected client running on the user's Windows, macOS or Linux device, server, NAS-adjacent system or Raspberry Pi. The file is downloaded directly from the original source to that device and is not relayed through the autofetch server.

Watches can also follow future or numbered content such as episodes, releases or XDCC packs. The portal keeps download status, retries and errors visible in one place.

The service is currently free to use and in beta. The server is centrally operated, while the local download client has a public source-code repository.
