What is AlgoTest?

AlgoTest is a web-based trading platform that combines strategy testing, analytics, and automated execution for equity derivatives traders. It is built around testing a strategy against historical and live data before committing capital to it.

The platform supports two workflows: a systematic stack for traders running rule-based strategies that execute on their own, and a discretionary stack for traders who place trades manually but want structure around the decision.

Systematic trading tools:

  • Backtester: build and validate rule-based strategies against historical market data, returning metrics such as profit and loss, win rate, and maximum drawdown.
  • Paper trading: run a strategy against live market data without placing real orders.
  • Automated execution: deploy a tested strategy to a connected broker account and let it run during market hours.

Discretionary trading tools:

  • Strategy builder: construct multi-leg options positions from an option chain, with payoff diagrams and risk metrics.
  • Options simulator: replay past sessions to test how a manual trade would have performed and run historical analysis.
  • Basket orders: send all legs of a multi-leg position together as a single execution.

Volatility analytics:

  • Variance risk premium dashboard, volatility skew, cross-sectional comparison dashboards, and real-time volatility data.

Strategies can be built on Indian exchange-traded index and stock derivatives, including Nifty, Bank Nifty, Fin Nifty, Sensex, and Nifty 50 stock options. A marketplace lets users subscribe to strategies published by research analysts.

Pricing runs on a credit wallet rather than fixed subscription tiers. Credits are bought upfront and spent on backtests, paper trades, and live deployment slots. Every account receives 25 free backtests per week.
