What is Aegis Authenticator?
Encryption All of your one-time passwords are stored in a vault. If you choose to set a password, which is highly recommended, the vault will be encrypted using AES-256. If someone with malicious intent gets a hold of the vault file, it’s impossible for them to retrieve the contents without knowing the password.
Fingerprint unlock Entering your password each time you need access to a one-time password can be cumbersome. Fortunately, you can also enable fingerprint unlock if your device has a fingerprint scanner.
Compatibility Aegis supports the HOTP and TOTP algorithms. These two algorithms are industry-standard and widely supported, making Aegis compatible with thousands of services. Some examples are: Google, GitHub, Dropbox, Facebook and Instagram.
It is also compatible with Google Authenticator. Any website that shows a QR code for Google Authenticator also works with Aegis.
Groups Have a lot of one-time passwords? Add them to custom groups for easier access. Personal, Work and Social can each get their own group.
Backups To make sure you will never lose access to your online accounts Aegis Authenticator supports exporting your vault which you can import onto a new device. Aegis Authenticator also allows you to import AndOTP and FreeOTP databases so switching to Aegis is made easier for you.
Open source and license Aegis Authenticator is open source (licensed under GPL v3) and the source code can be found here: http://github.com/beemdevelopment/Aegis

Comments and Reviews
It's open source & well maintained
I'm shocked to see how many 5-star reviews are here. It's like everybody rates this software when they only start to use it and then never change the rating when problems arise.
I, too, was a fan of Aegis, until I needed to rename a group, something this basic is just not possible and the issue on GitHub is opened for years now. Same with adding an entry to multiple groups. If you don't see a reason for such a feature, it's clear you don't have many accounts with 2FA enabled.
You could just delete the group and add a new one though.
User friendly, nice UI and UX, easily customizable secure and great backup options
Better thing is that I can swap without lose my keys, a save backups where I want to
Even if I wasn't trying to cut down on Google services, it's still better than Google Authenticator. You can organize accounts into groups, hide codes until you tap on one, and protect the app behind its own password. (And it's still free, open-source, and works offline.)
Import from Google Authenticator is surprisingly easy, since Aegis can read batches exported into a single QR code (up to 10 per code), and I was able to move the accounts within the same device by saving a local screenshot for Aegis to read. There are several options for backups too.
Great free 2fa app, with local backups.
I really like this app! It has nice UI and is Open Source. I have been using this app since more than a year and I never had problems with Aegis.
