a quiet counter is a meal planner and grocery list for people who cook at home. You put recipes on the days of the week, and the grocery list builds itself from the plan. Ingredients shared between recipes are added together, so two recipes that each use a lemon become one line for two lemons, and each line shows which meals it is for.

You bring your own recipes. Paste a link and the title, servings, ingredients with amounts and method come across. You can paste many links at once, or use share codes from other cooks. With the paid plan you can also import from reels, photos of cookbook pages and spoken family recipes. It does not come with a large catalogue of recipes of its own.

It can also scale any recipe to the number of serves you want, and fill empty days with Recommendations that take into account what is in your kitchen and which produce is in season near you. A stock list covers fridge, freezer and pantry; freezer items are marked on the grocery list instead of bought again, and reminders tell you when to freeze and when to take food out to defrost. Cook mode shows one step at a time, with the ingredients that step uses and a timer wherever a step names a time.

Households share one plan, one recipe library and one grocery list, and each person can have their own usual portion. Households and some imports are part of the paid plan. Every recipe has a calorie estimate, with fuller colour, plant and satiety views on the paid plan.

It runs in any web browser and as an Android app.
