7DtD is a survival crafting game. You start off with little resources and need to find or create weapons, collect resources and build a shelter to survive against the zombie apocalypse. Every 'seven days' there will be a swarm on zombies coming to your location, hence the name. It is a bit of Minecraft mixed with Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising or Dying Light.
As you do things, your skills will increase, letting you do them easier. (swinging an axe, shooting a gun, digging for stone or ore, building a shelter, crafting an item, etc.) There are many mods available that change the difficulty, add new items, change the look of the game, and so on. A dedicated wiki / forum has lots of discussions about the game. The game can be played single player or multi-player on open and private servers. Some allow PvP play, some encourage working together. Likewise, some servers use various mods while others do not.
The developers have been working on the game for a long time, releasing updates every few months with new features and bug fixes into 2022, and the game still has a dedicated following of players.
