3DTin

With the advent of 3-D Tv's and 3-D movies and 3-D game consoles we are starting to see an acceptance of this technology into the mainstream. Applications such as 3DTin for creating 3D in a browser are a good step but we need to make it more main stream. That means making it all free including exporting all 3D file formats not just a few proprietary ones (hope your listening to this Google). It needs to be like .jpeg. We have the tools and the software to do it!

So come all you big corporations out there listen up. You have the means to make this happen. I have been teaching and using 3D since 1978 and the problem with 3-D is the following:

• Cost prohibitive the software still too expensive
• User Interface overload! Software too complicated to understand
• Too proprietary (blame it on Hollywood trying to protect their so called intellectual properties)
• Too focused on CAD engineering

We need the following:

• 3D for use by the masses from age infant onwards
• A simple build approach i.e. lego brick style
• A standard file format
• Easier interaction and a user interface that a monkey can use
