16Word teaches a language in a fixed daily unit: 16 items, about five minutes, using active recall and spaced repetition — with a short game of Blocks between answers that makes the session feel worth opening tomorrow.
There are eight tracks: Words (6,000+ per language), Sentences, Dialogues, Travel (100 situations, from passport control to a lost passport — what you say and what you will hear), Proverbs & Idioms, Expressions, Phrasal verbs and Tongue twisters. Every track has a free sample.
It covers 28 languages, and any of them can be learned from any other — a Chinese speaker can learn German, a Turkish speaker Japanese, a Hebrew speaker Latin. That includes languages the big apps don't offer: Latin, Luxembourgish (native recordings from the Lëtzebuerger Online Dictionnaire), Azerbaijani, Persian, Icelandic and Urdu.
Recall is re-checked at 7, 30 and 90 days; a CEFR level (A1–C2) is only "sealed" once words survive 90 days, and passing a tier issues a verifiable certificate. Synonyms count as correct answers. Free to start with no credit card; paid plans unlock every track and offline use.
