What is (Open) Note Block Studio?

An open-source continuation of Minecraft Note Block Studio from StuffByDavid with exciting new features!

(Open) Note Block Studio (Shortened to OpenNBS) is a music editor designed for creating and exporting songs for Minecraft. It lets you compose, edit, and play music using note blocks in a simple piano-like interface, making it easy for beginners. The projects are saved using the .nbs (Note Block Sound) format. The software also allows exporting to:

  • .MP3 Music files to play the final result in any music players
  • .ZIP Minecraft datapacks to import the song to Minecraft and play it using commands
  • .SCHEMATIC a file format compatible with many "Schematic" mods on Minecraft allowing you to paste the song in a path with Redstone and note blocks reproducing the song without any mods/datapacks required in the minecraft world

The .NBS (Note Block Song) format is explained in detail in their website at https://noteblock.studio/nbs/ .

The original software was made by StuffByDavid(https://github.com/stuffbydavid/) at https://www.stuffbydavid.com/mcnbs that was closed source and now discontinued
