Suno launches v6 with song editing, mashups, and three new model tiers

Suno has introduced v6, its new generation of AI music models with improvements to speed, expressiveness, audio quality, creative control, and prompt understanding. The lineup includes v6 for more predictable results and v6-wild for more experimental outputs, both for Pro and Premier subscribers, while the faster v6-mini is available to everyone.

v6 adds more granular editing, allowing creators to change specific song sections, vocals, arrangements, or individual lyrics without regenerating the rest. It also supports multi-source mashups, combining elements such as vocals and drums from different songs, as well as sampling and isolating instruments or sections to build new beats. Music can be generated from text, audio, images, and video, including voice memos and journal entries, while prompts can also describe broader moods, genres, environments, or inspirations.

As v6 rolls out, Suno plans to retire its previous models and move entirely to the v6 family. The company says it has also added safeguards to screen uploaded audio and lyrics for unauthorized use, and is developing opt-in artist experiences where participating artists can be compensated while fans gain new ways to interact with them, although launch dates and payment details have not been announced.
