Raycast 2.0 is officially out of beta with a new interface and cross-platform support
Raycast 2.0 has officially launched out of beta, now serving as the main desktop version in place of Raycast v1. The release brings a rebuilt interface and a new cross platform architecture for macOS and Windows. More importantly, Root Search can now finally surface files, folders, contacts, commands, and apps directly, while File Search uses a custom Rust based indexer instead of relying on Spotlight metadata.
The update also includes system wide Dictation, a redesigned Quick AI experience, expanded AI Chat, reorganized settings, and the ability to configure hotkeys and aliases directly from Root Search. Other improvements include clearer AI error messages, faster scrolling, improved PDF OCR for AI context, and loopback OAuth support for integrations such as Atlassian.
Existing beta data is preserved during the upgrade, while v1 users are prompted to import their data and may need to reauthorize some permissions. Dictation and AI Chat, which were free during the beta, are now part of Raycast Pro, with a seven day free trial available after signing in.
