Steam expands guest checkout for game gifts, cross-region and wishlist upgrades

Valve has expanded Steam’s guest checkout system, allowing anyone to buy and gift eligible games without creating or signing in to a Steam account. Previously limited to digital gift cards and hardware, guest checkout now supports games and lets buyers send digital gifts directly to a recipient’s email address without knowing their Steam username.

Steam users can also share Wishlist links filtered by game category or demo availability. Friends and family can purchase directly from these filtered lists through guest checkout, making the process easier for people who do not regularly use Steam.

Another new addition is that Steam now supports gifting across regions, with the buyer paying the recipient’s local price when regional pricing differs. Recipients receive an email with a link to sign in and accept the gift, while any gift left unaccepted for 30 days is automatically refunded.
