Proton 11.0 launches with many new playable games, updated components & numerous bug fixes

Valve has released Proton 11.0, the latest version of its compatibility layer that allows Windows games to run on Linux-based systems such as the Steam Deck. With this update, a wide selection of titles has become playable, including Universe Generator: The Golden Sword, DCS World Steam Edition, Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2, Dino Crisis, Dino Crisis 2, From Dust, Metal Gear Survive, Warhammer: Vermintide 2, Gothic 1 Classic, and X-Plane 12.

Following these compatibility gains, Proton 11.0 introduces a major technical update by rebasing the software on Wine 11.0, a key component underlying Windows-compatibility on Linux. The release also integrates FEX-2605 for ARM64EC builds, and updates several core dependencies such as Xalia 0.4.9, vkd3d-1.19, dxvk 2.7.1, dxvk-nvapi 0.9.1, Wine Mono 11.0, and vkd3d-proton-20260410.

Addressing stability and user experience, this version resolves various bugs, including problems with video playback in She Sees Red, symbol rendering in Chambers with the Ukrainian language, voice chat in Phasmophobia lobbies, and unplayable EA games after a recent desktop update. In addition, users benefit from enhanced rendering of Rockstar Launcher popups, expanded emoji support in Idle Trillionaire, and added support for SteamWorks SDK 1.64.

Further improvements target Steam Overlay functionality with EA games, intro video playback in Crimson Desert, timezone detection accuracy, Kodi media player compatibility, and KDE Plasma window maximization support, among many others.
