Opera introduces Paste Protect to secure your clipboard against malicious code injections

Opera is rolling out Paste Protect, a built-in browser feature designed to safeguard users from malicious code injection attacks such as ClickFix. This new protection actively blocks harmful code from being copied onto your clipboard, alerting you whenever a website attempts to manipulate clipboard content with potentially dangerous material.

Building on Opera’s 2021 Hijack protection, Paste Protect uniquely merges clipboard hijack defenses with a dedicated injection protection element to cover a wider range of threats. When sites try to force harmful content into your clipboard or trick you into copying dangerous code, Opera will intercept the action and provide a clear notification, making potential attacks more visible.

By default, Paste Protect is enabled on the Opera browser, but users retain the option to control the setting through the browser’s preferences menu. While this feature currently debuts for Opera One users enrolled in Early Bird mode, wider availability may follow as Opera continues to expand the rollout.
