Linkwarden 2.15 brings major mobile updates, a much lighter web app & reduced Docker image
Linkwarden 2.15 has been released as the latest version of this open-source collaborative bookmark manager. This release introduces one of its largest mobile updates to date, enhancing user experience with new reader and annotation features. Mobile users can now highlight text in four different colors, attach notes to these highlights, and review or navigate them through a dedicated “Notes & Highlights” view per article. In addition, a new option allows users to save preserved link formats for offline use, downloading them automatically in the background as they browse.
Following these core mobile improvements, the app now enables readers to adjust font, text size, line height, and background color for improved accessibility. The interface also supports a long-press gesture on any link, opening a detailed view in a single sheet, consistent with the web application’s approach.
On the web, Linkwarden 2.15 delivers notable backend enhancements. Idle memory consumption has been roughly halved, decreasing from around 700 MB to about 350 MB. Administrators will also benefit from a reduced Docker image footprint, now approximately 1.5 GB instead of 3.0. For self-hosted setups, the release adds support for any OpenID Connect identity provider, expanding authentication options. A major portion of this update focused on security hardening, and an upgrade to version 2.15 is strongly recommended.
