Google's NotebookLM is now Gemini Notebook, with expanded code execution & cross-app sync

Google has renamed its AI research and note-taking tool, NotebookLM, to Gemini Notebook. This updated identity marks a shift toward deeper integration across the Google ecosystem. Gemini Notebook remains a standalone product for research but now connects more closely with both the Gemini app and Google Search.

Alongside the name change, Google is rolling out an update that gives each notebook a secure cloud computer. This major enhancement allows Gemini Notebook to write and execute code natively for complex data analysis rooted in the user’s source material. Currently, these features are available for Google AI Ultra users and Workspace business customers with AI Ultra Access and AI Expanded Access. The update is set to expand to all Pro users on the web in the coming weeks.

Following these technical improvements, Gemini Notebook now supports cross-app syncing. Users can create and access notebooks from either the Gemini app or the standalone Gemini Notebook experience, streamlining research across devices. Soon, Gemini Notebook will also be available directly within AI Mode in Google Search, further integrating note-taking and research capabilities with Google’s primary search product.
