Deepin 25.2 upgrades Treeland Wayland compositor, adds image content search & improves DDE
Deepin 25.2 arrives with a major focus on upgrading the Treeland Wayland compositor. Over 20 issues affecting stability and high-frequency user interactions have been fixed. Treeland now integrates key Deepin Desktop Environment (DDE) features including better support for input devices, improved display settings, expanded personalization, and enhanced power management. This results in a more complete environment for daily Linux usage.
Meanwhile, file management and search functionality see significant enhancements. Deepin adds a file indexing configuration, empowering users to control indexing and balance speed with resource use. Image content search is now available, enabling users to find local images based on embedded text. Upgrades to global search, shared access, and external storage support streamline file discovery.
Following these desktop changes, DDE introduces new options such as taskbar icon split mode for tracking multiple windows, cross-screen splicing in display configurations, and further refinements across notifications and network management. Update settings now include intelligent mirror source selection.
Operating system integrity is strengthened with Linux 6.6 and 6.18 kernel updates, providing better hardware compatibility, security, and stability. Synchronization of major updates involving Qt6, PipeWire, initramfs, and virtualization further bolsters system reliability. Additionally, numerous core applications like Terminal, Mail, and multimedia tools have been patched for better display, interaction, and stability.
