Wine 11.10: VKD3D 2.0, reimplemented XPath without libxml2 & better VBScript compatibility
Wine 11.10 delivers a new version of this cross-platform compatibility layer, enabling Windows applications to run on Linux, macOS, and BSD systems. The release includes a key update to its Direct3D translation capabilities, with the bundled VKD3D component advancing to version 2.0. This upgrade benefits users running games and graphics-intense applications that depend on Direct3D 12 features.
Alongside these changes, XPath support within Wine has been reimplemented to function without the previous reliance on the libxml2 library. This adjustment impacts a wide variety of applications that handle XML parsing or transformation workflows. Building on these technical improvements, the new release also provides enhanced VBScript compatibility, improving operation with scripts embedded in numerous Windows programs.
Rounding out this update, Wine 11.10 includes 17 bug fixes targeting a mix of widely used software and games. Notable entries among those addressed include IrfanView, Star Wars Racer, Git, Kodak EasyShare, Family Tree Maker 2017, Foxit PhantomPDF Business v10.0, Vocaloid 6, Photolemur 3, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Age of Empires III, and several others.
