Wine 11.21 brings faster WoW64 OpenGL, initial Voice Capture DSP library, and 20 bug fixes

The Wine Project has released Wine 11.21, a development update to its compatibility layer that enables Windows applications and games to run on Linux and Unix-like systems. This release brings three notable improvements. First, it delivers better WoW64 OpenGL performance through support for the map_buffer_client_pointer extension, a change targeting 32-bit Windows graphics workloads running inside Wine's 64-bit environment. Second, Wine 11.21 introduces an initial implementation of the Voice Capture DSP library, a Windows component for voice audio processing. This is a first-pass implementation with additional functionality expected in future releases. Third, the update improves support for Windows user accounts, though specifics on which behaviors were addressed remain undocumented.

Beyond these headline features, the release addresses 20 bugs spanning gaming, multimedia, and system-level operations. Game fixes include crashes in Skyrim from unhandled raw input flags and Skyrim Special Edition assertion failures, BioShock 2 Remastered crashes when applying display settings due to NULL output in D3D11 FinishCommandList, a black screen in Fate/stay night REMASTERED under EGL, and missing music in Tron 2.0 and No One Lives Forever 2 from rejected wave-item headers. Input issues received attention as well: Shift+Ctrl+Tab handling, World of Tanks chat keys, and “I Love Science!” CD detection were all corrected. Non-gaming fixes include a crypt32 signature verification issue blocking FL Studio 26.1.5 startup, Cinebench 2026 crashes from the unimplemented D3D12GetInterface function, .NET Framework 4.8 rounding errors, WinHTTP response header truncation beyond 1,459 bytes, and SSL certificate validation problems with IP address subject alternative names. Lower-level repairs address memory bugs in JPEG XR handling, ARM64X ELF build failures, i386 SEH unwinding regressions, and a segmentation fault reported in Wine 11.20.
