KDE Plasma 6.7 adds per-screen virtual desktops, Union theming system, and Wayland updates
KDE Plasma 6.7 introduces major enhancements for Unix-based platform users, including per-screen virtual desktops and a quick toggle for immediate switching between light and dark global themes. Alongside these, users can now test microphone volume directly and input special characters more easily by holding a key on the virtual keyboard.
Building on these user experience changes, the system tray receives a badge to show active printer jobs and improved indications for background apps, especially Flatpaks. Users working across environments will appreciate easier connections to shared Windows network printers and a new print queue management tool for greater control. Usability receives a boost with faster virtual desktop switching, drag-and-drop favorites in the application menu, a clearer Discover software manager, a world clock widget with improved time zone comparison, and a “type-ahead” mode for file selection on the desktop.
Following this, Plasma 6.7 debuts the Union theming system, offering unified styling in Plasma and Qt environments with CSS, while reintroducing the classic Oxygen and Air themes and enhancing the default Breeze theme. For regional support, the Vietnamese lunar calendar is now available. Expanded Wayland protocol and portal support and upgrades to color management, graphics, and overall performance round out this release.
