Google upgrades NotebookLM with advanced reasoning powered by Gemini 3.5 and Antigravity
Google has announced a series of major updates to its research assistant NotebookLM, enhancing its utility for complex projects. The tool is now powered by Gemini 3.5 models and Antigravity, increasing the accuracy and reliability of information while providing clearer insight into the system's reasoning process.
Alongside these upgrades, each notebook is now equipped with a secure cloud computer that enables code writing and execution for deeper research and more complex analysis. Users also gain access to more than 100 curated software skills, allowing for a broader range of analytic and research tasks. Building on these additions, NotebookLM lets users generate outputs in a wider variety of formats, including PDF reports with charts and tables, detailed budget spreadsheets, and custom student worksheets. All outputs can be edited after generation and downloaded directly from the studio panel.
While the platform was previously optimized for users who brought their own sources, it now supports projects starting from loose ideas and basic questions. Users can build their source repository guided by the chat function, while maintaining full control and ensuring clear source attribution. These features are rolling out globally on the web for Google AI Ultra users, Workspace business customers with AI Ultra Access and AI Expanded Access, with expansion to more users planned.
