Cyberduck 9.5 adds Liquid Glass design for macOS and support for AWS IAM Identity Center
Cyberduck 9.5 has arrived as the latest version of this open-source client for FTP and SFTP, WebDAV, and cloud storage. This update brings a mix of visual enhancements and expanded connectivity, particularly for macOS and Amazon S3 users. The update introduces support for the Liquid Glass design on macOS, offering a refreshed, modern interface. Alongside these visual improvements, macOS workflows benefit from popover displays for file transfer details and bookmarks, a refined “Bookmark” window with connect and configuration options, and more context-sensitive controls throughout the application. In addition, progress indicators are now shown in both the browser and bookmark views, and an improved index of connection profiles allows for faster navigation in the preferences.
In terms of connectivity, the updated Cyberduck integrates with AWS IAM Identity Center, formerly known as AWS Single Sign-On. This allows users to access Amazon S3 with short-lived credentials based on existing corporate identities like Okta and Microsoft Entra ID (previously Azure AD), reducing security risks that come with long-term access keys. Building on these authentication enhancements, Cyberduck can now obtain S3 credentials via the credential_process directive in AWS configuration files and retrieve credentials directly from instance metadata using Instance Metadata Service v2 (IMDSv2).
Moreover, new preferences allow for detailed control over file version histories in S3 browsers, including toggling versioned listings and viewing previous file versions. The release also addresses several bug fixes.
