Last.fm returns to independence, assures users of unchanged service, privacy, and pricing
Last.fm has begun operating as an independent company again, ending its period under CBS Interactive ownership that began in 2007. While the streaming platform’s organizational structure has changed, it confirms that users will not experience any disruptions to their accounts, listening history, or stored data. This stability extends to privacy settings, which remain unaltered by the ownership transition.
Building on this continuity, Last.fm assures users that the team responsible for designing and maintaining the service is unchanged. The company notes that day-to-day operations, including regular service and features available to standard and pro members, will continue unaffected. Existing subscriptions, billing processes, and pricing structures also remain the same.
According to a statement shared on Last.fm’s support forum, independence will allow the company to focus more directly on developing listening insights and new community-focused features aimed at music fans. No updates have been announced regarding immediate changes to the platform or its core offerings.
