DietPi 10.3 brings Orange Pi 4 LTS image, Prometheus monitoring, USB auto-mount, and more

DietPi 10.3 delivers new compatibility, application options, and storage workflow enhancements for users of this lightweight, Debian-based operating system for single board computers (SBCs). The release introduces support and images for the long-term support (LTS) Orange Pi SBC equipped with the Rockchip RK3399 system on chip (SoC), extending DietPi’s reach to newer hardware.

Alongside expanded hardware support, this version provides the widely used Prometheus open-source system monitoring toolkit as a new software option, making it easier for administrators to implement monitoring and alerting solutions. Additionally, a new USB auto-mount feature installs a Linux device manager (udev) rule, automatically mounting USB storage devices to the /media directory when inserted and unmounting on removal, streamlining external storage workflows.

Building on these improvements, drive manager behavior has changed so that it no longer overwrites the entire /etc/fstab file, instead updating only relevant entries to preserve custom mount options. Further updates include the introduction of an Amiberry-Lite autostart option for early boot, Odroid C1 and XU4 board enhancements using /boot/bootini, and the migration from pyenv to uv for faster Home Assistant Python environment setup. The QuiteRSS application has been removed due to its upstream deprecation. DietPi 10.3 also includes additional minor enhancements and bug fixes.
