Proton launches business suite offering to compete with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace

Proton has launched Proton Workspace, uniting all of its privacy-focused tools into a single platform for businesses seeking control over their data. This release integrates Proton’s suite, including Mail, Calendar, VPN, Drive, Pass, Wallet, and Authenticator, alongside new offerings like Proton Meet, Docs, Sheets, and the Lumo AI assistant.

Proton Workspace offers two business plans: Workspace Standard offers encrypted Mail, enhanced Calendar with appointment scheduling, Drive, Docs and Sheets, Meet, VPN, and Pass, starting at $12.99 per user per month on an annual basis. Workspace Premium expands storage, adds email retention policies, supports more participants in Meet calls, and includes Lumo AI, at $19.99 per user monthly when billed annually.

Following this, existing customers of Proton Business Suite will be upgraded to Workspace Standard at no extra cost. This upgrade grants access to additional features such as Proton Meet, supporting a smooth transition. Proton sets itself apart from Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace through always-on end-to-end encryption and zero-access policies, so not even Proton can read user data.

Not so great to have so much user data under one roof, but it's fantastic to see a competitor in the Google suite and Microsoft 365/teams space focused on privacy! Hopefully we see more of this

Agree with your comment! On one hand, it's good to see privacy-focused alternatives (I use Infomaniak kSuite icon Infomaniak kSuite for some tasks myself), but on the other hand, grouping so many services and data under one company can definitely be a privacy/security risk. Proton has not had any major issue until now, so let's hope it stays this way.

It’s genuinely exciting to watch Proton’s journey but they’re at risk of bad actors and profit-driven ensh*tification. Lately, their ads and sponsorships have become more aggressive... It will be interesting to see whether it continues or if it was just a big push for the business suite reveal

Hopefully they remain successful for the sake of their users (including the ones on here!). Maybe their success will embolden other private alternatives too, like CryptPad icon CryptPad and Fileverse icon Fileverse
