Apple Music will now label AI-Generated content across its platform

Apple Music will now tag AI-Generated content with new Transparency Tags, a metadata system designed to show when artificial intelligence has been used in parts of a release such as artwork, tracks, composition, or music videos. The framework is meant to bring more visibility to AI use across music delivered to the platform.

For now, the tags are optional, but Apple says they will become required for new releases in the future. Labels and distributors can apply more than one tag to the same release depending on where AI was used, giving Apple Music a more structured way to label AI involvement across different creative elements.

Still, the system depends entirely on self reporting. Apple is not independently verifying whether content was made with AI, and if no tag is submitted, it assumes the release is not AI generated. That stands in clear contrast to Deezer, which uses its own detection tools to identify AI music after upload and says it is now receiving more than 60,000 fully AI generated tracks a day, with synthetic content accounting for nearly 39% of daily uploads and fraud rates on AI related streams reaching as high as 85%.
