Apple acquires MotionVFX to enhance Final Cut Pro with plugins, transition, and templates

Apple has acquired MotionVFX, the Warsaw-based company that has spent 15 years building one of the most comprehensive plugin and effects libraries for Final Cut Pro. The deal was announced by MotionVFX itself, with confirmation that it is joining the Apple team. Neither Apple nor MotionVFX have disclosed the terms of the agreement, and Apple has not made a public statement regarding the acquisition, consistent with its usual approach to deals in this sector.

Following the move, Apple is expected to strengthen its Creator Studio subscription, which packages Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and other creative applications. Previous expansion had already seen Apple acquire Pixelmator and include its popular Pixelmator Pro software in the Creator Studio bundle. Now, integrating MotionVFX provides Apple an extensive library of plugins, transitions, templates, and visual effects, thereby reducing reliance on third-party developers for key Final Cut Pro features.

However, questions remain for users outside the Apple ecosystem. MotionVFX also produces plugins for industry-standard video editors such as Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, but there has been no announcement regarding continued support or development for those platforms.
