You can now use detailed open source licensing filters on AlternativeTo!
Hey guys! So, some of you might have already caught this, but for those who have not, we wanted to share a small update we pushed recently. AlternativeTo now has more detailed open source licensing filters. Instead of only filtering by “Open Source,” you can now narrow results down by license family, so it is easier to find alternatives that match the license you actually want.

When you open filters and choose “Open Source,” you will see “All Open Source” for any OSI approved license, followed by license families like GPL, MIT style, Apache, LGPL, AGPL, MPL, EPL, public domain, and other, with each family grouping related licenses. Only one license filter can be active at a time, and this also sits alongside the Cost filter, where you can still filter by Free or Paid regardless of open source status.

You can also use the different filters, including the open source license options in our “All Apps” page. Separately, we have also been showing more license details on app pages and listings, so you can quickly spot the exact license at a glance in the cost and license area. As always, let us know what you think!

Thanks, love you guys!
Oh, this sounds good, but I'll first need a review of Copy Left Law?
Thanks for caring about the details of Open Source and Free Software! Licenses can be important when searching for alternatives.
thank you for your work! ^w^
This is wonderful news. The trend among my clients is away from proprietary systems to more Open Source.
In general, the more filters you make available the more valuable https://alternativeto.net is.
Thank you.
Love this page. Thanks for your service to the people.
Seems this would be useful for developers at least.
