Snapseed for iOS rolls out a big update with a built-in camera and manual pro controls
Google has updated Snapseed for iOS, its popular photo editing app, expanding it from a strictly editing focused tool to include direct in app camera capture. After a December soft launch, the feature is now rolling out more broadly, with a dedicated camera icon inside the app instead of relying on Lock Screen or system entry points. The update makes it easier to take a photo in Snapseed and then edit it right away in the same place.
The new camera includes a PRO mode with manual ISO, shutter speed, and focus controls available from the viewfinder. Google also added a dial style control for switching off Auto, plus a rewind style animation when changing film emulation presets. Flash and zoom have been repositioned to the bottom corners of the viewfinder.
Snapseed’s camera supports real time film emulation and custom saved looks, with 12 built in presets inspired by Kodak, Fuji, Agfa, Polaroid, and Technicolor films. Each photo captures a full editing stack, so users can adjust, refine, or revert parts of the look even after saving to the gallery. The viewfinder also offers multiple color themes, and Snapseed 3.15.0 is available free on the App Store, while Google says it is working to bring the redesigned editor from iOS to Android.
