Grafana 12.4 brings dynamic dashboards, Git Sync, and faster dashboard setup

Grafana 12.4 has been launched, bringing updated dashboard authoring workflows and setting the stage for Grafana 13. Git Sync is now in public preview in Grafana Cloud and experimental in Grafana OSS and Enterprise, letting teams manage dashboards as code with better change tracking. It adds GitHub App authentication for repository access and improves branch selection to better match common Git review workflows.

Dynamic dashboards are now in public preview across all editions, aiming to make large dashboards easier to navigate and maintain as data sources grow. The update adds flexible tab layouts, show or hide rules for panels, rows, and tabs, and an auto grid layout that adapts panel sizing to available space. It also introduces a clickable content outline for faster navigation and moves key controls into a right side toolbar to free up vertical space.

Grafana 12.4 also adds suggested dashboards after a data source is connected, along with dashboard templates that start with sample data and can be switched to real data later. Visualization suggestions are now the default in the panel editor, with improved previews and recommendations. Other updates include time range pan and zoom, a revamped gauge panel, improvements to query variables and multi property variables, SCIM provisioning, RBAC for saved queries, and updates to the Zabbix and Google Sheets data sources.
