Bluesky launches highlighted profile links and iPad support to empower creators

Bluesky has rolled out profile links, a new feature allowing users to place external website links directly at the top of their profiles. The update enables creators, journalists, and regular users to showcase personal websites, newsletters, or other social media accounts without redirecting visitors through intermediary link in bio pages. Unlike traditional solutions that require an extra click to view a landing page, Bluesky's implementation sends profile visitors directly to the destination URL, just one tap away from reading work, subscribing, or financially supporting creators. The platform is simultaneously launching iPad optimization, introducing a new layout specifically designed for larger screens to accommodate growing demand from tablet users.

The feature signals Bluesky's broader commitment to supporting creator economies beyond the platform. Links to payment processors like Patreon and Ko-fi will automatically display as prominent green buttons on profiles, directing supporters straight to existing payment pages rather than attempting to build proprietary monetization infrastructure. According to the announcement, profile links represent only an initial step toward a larger vision of creator monetization across the “Atmosphere”, the open ecosystem of applications built on Bluesky's AT Protocol. The team expressed interest in eventually enabling cross-app memberships and benefits, reducing creator dependence on any single platform.

Users can begin adding links immediately by navigating to their profile, selecting “Edit Profile”, and accessing the new links' section. Multiple links can be added with custom titles and reordered via drag-and-drop, appearing directly beneath the user's bio. Mobile users can tap and hold links to preview full URLs before clicking. With the newly launched iPad-optimized interface, these features are now fully accessible on Apple tablets with improved visual spacing and navigation designed for the larger form factor.
