Bandcamp bans music generated wholly or substantially by AI to “keep the platform human”

Bandcamp has introduced a major update to its generative artificial intelligence (AI) policy, aiming to ensure that music available on the platform is created by humans. Under the revised rules, music and audio generated entirely or predominantly by AI are no longer permitted for upload to Bandcamp. This move is intended to support musicians who create original works and to reinforce listener confidence in the authenticity of content found on the site.

In addition to banning AI-generated compositions, Bandcamp has restated that using AI tools to mimic or impersonate specific artists or their styles is strictly forbidden. This expands the platform’s existing policies on impersonation and intellectual property infringement to cover technologically produced works.

Following the policy update, Bandcamp now encourages users to report music they believe relies heavily on generative AI. The company’s reporting tools can be used to flag such content for review, and Bandcamp reserves the right to remove any tracks suspected of violating the rules. The platform cites its conviction that the human connection at the heart of music creation is essential for society and culture, shaping its decision to clamp down on AI-powered music uploads.

Let's see if will works. I am not sure if it is possible to stop slop wave, but it is worth to try.

Glad that they're specifying "substantially" because there are definitely means of integrating AI tools into your workflow while still maintaining creative control over your work. ACE Studio for instance is on the right path for this, I feel, leveraging AI to do the work that previously required things like Vocaloid or huge sample libraries.
