YouTube Premium brings HQ audio, faster playback speeds, and key moments to more devices
Google has expanded the latest YouTube Premium features to a wider range of devices. The recent rollout introduces enhanced audio quality for Android and iOS, giving subscribers access to richer sound quality previously limited to the YouTube Music app and experimental phases on YouTube main. These audio enhancements aim to elevate mobile listening across supported platforms.
Additionally, users can now fine-tune video speeds up to 4x with 0.05 increments on Android, iOS, and web. Previously, this feature was only available on mobile, but it now benefits viewers on desktop as well. The upgrade also brings the ability to skip directly to key video moments. While this navigation capability was already accessible on Android, iOS, and web, it has now launched for YouTube main on smart TVs and gaming consoles, allowing for quicker access to interesting sections of videos on larger screens.
Regarding Shorts, iOS users now gain automatic downloads of favorite short-form videos based on viewing history, a function already available on Android. Additionally, Shorts picture-in-picture is fully supported on iOS, letting viewers keep Shorts playing while navigating other content. These enhancements deliver a richer, faster, and more convenient experience for YouTube Premium subscribers across multiple devices.
