Tor Project launches a new VPN in beta for Android with per-app routing
The Tor Project has released Tor VPN Beta, an experimental open source VPN application licensed under BSD 3-Clause and available exclusively for Android devices via the Google Play Store. The app is intended for testing and feedback, not for high-risk use, as some features remain incomplete and potential leaks are possible.
Tor VPN Beta routes traffic through the Tor Network, masking IP addresses and locations from apps, services, and monitors. Each app can run on its own Tor circuit with a separate exit IP, limiting cross-app tracking. Users can choose which apps connect through the network, with traffic moving across five nodes: an entry, three intermediates, and an exit, similar to the Tor Browser.
To address censorship, the app includes built-in bridges like obfs4, which disguises traffic as random data, and Snowflake, which mimics video calls. Additional bridges can be added or requested from Tor. The app is built on Arti, Tor’s Rust-based implementation, offering stronger security foundations than the older C-based tools.

I wonder how it will differentiate with Orbot. (Other than using Arti)
