Rufus 4.10 finally adds a dark mode & updates Windows certificate support for Secure Boot
Rufus 4.10 brings several user-focused enhancements and technical improvements to this popular utility for formatting and creating bootable USB drives. The most notable addition is the newly implemented dark mode, which helps reduce eye strain and makes the application easier to use in low-light environments.
Building on support for recent Microsoft platforms, the update allows users to create Windows UEFI CA 2023 compatible boot media. This process requires using a Windows 11 25H2 ISO file, enabling advanced setup options for IT administrators and enthusiasts. Additionally, Rufus now offers support for saving existing drives as ISO images in UDF format, expanding options for backup and deployment workflows. Error reporting during saves to VHD and VHDX virtual disk formats has also been improved, supporting better troubleshooting.
Following these enhancements, Rufus 4.10 improves persistence support for Linux Mint installations, helping users retain data across reboots when working with persistent live USB setups. Several bug fixes address issues, including improper UEFI Database of eXcluded signatures (DBX) update notifications in certain timezones, inability to select a file system in ISO mode, and crashes triggered by extremely long Windows ISO file paths.
