Netflix adds mobile highlight clips with sharing and start-end controls

Netflix has added a new feature to its mobile app that lets users create highlight clips from shows and movies. Viewers can now select both a starting and ending point, saving only the exact segment they want instead of entire scenes. This builds on last year’s bookmarking option, which only allowed marking a single spot without stopping playback.

To make a clip, users tap the “Clip” button under the playback bar and adjust where the segment begins and ends. The finished clip is saved to the user’s account, offering more control over length than bookmarks.

Instead of enabling full downloads, the company says that clips are designed as lightweight short-form highlights, making them practical for social engagement and repeat viewing, similar to Twitch clips. They can also be shared on third-party social media apps like Instagram or WhatsApp.
