Spotify raises Premium prices across multiple regions outside the United States
Spotify is increasing Premium subscription prices across multiple regions outside the United States. The changes affect users in Europe, South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific, representing a broad global adjustment to the streaming service’s monthly fees. US pricing remains unchanged.
New customers in Spain, Italy, and Portugal are already seeing a €1 monthly increase, raising the standard plan from €10.99 to €11.99. Spotify hasn’t released a full list of affected countries, but impacted users will be notified via email over the next month.
Certain countries that saw price hikes recently, such as France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands, are excluded from this round. The move follows Spotify’s July 29 earnings report, which showed strong subscriber growth but a weak profit outlook. Its stock fell 11.5%, wiping $16 billion from its market cap. Despite the price changes, CEO Daniel Ek said the company is prioritizing long-term retention over short-term revenue.
