GitLab 18.3 launches with Duo Agent Platform in Visual Studio, embedded views, and more

GitLab has released version 18.3 of its DevSecOps platform, delivering a range of new capabilities focused on developer productivity and security. With this release, Visual Studio users gain access to the Duo Agent Platform in public beta, enabling advanced AI-driven features directly inside the integrated development environment.

Alongside this, GitLab brings embedded views powered by GitLab Query Language (GLQL) to general availability. Teams can now create and embed dynamic, queryable displays of GitLab data within their workspaces. Moving data between instances has been streamlined with general availability for direct transfer migration of groups and projects, now accessible via both the GitLab user interface and REST API.

On the security front, GitLab introduces fine-grained permissions for CI/CD job tokens. This feature allows administrators to minimize access by defining precisely which project resources a job token can reach. For users of self-hosted setups, GitLab Duo Code Review enters beta on GitLab Duo and supports Mistral, Meta Llama, Anthropic Claude, and OpenAI GPT models. Users can also customize AI instructions and combine external vendor models with locally hosted options for code review.

These updates are complemented by the ability for CI/CD jobs to pull secrets from AWS Secrets Manager, as well as multiple other enhancements and bug fixes in the platform.
