Home Assistant 2025.7 brings Ask Question to Assist, redesigned Area card, and sub-entries
Home Assistant 2025.7 is now available, delivering a suite of updates to this open source home automation platform. A standout feature is the new Ask Question action for Assist, which enables users to set up custom conversations within the automation engine. With this action, you can prompt users for input, specify expected responses, and take advantage of the fully local Speech-to-Phrase engine for robust voice interactions.
Additionally, the Area card has undergone a complete redesign, adopting a look similar to the Tile card. It fits directly into the Sections dashboard, offering flexible layouts. Users can opt for a compact view showing only an icon and area name or choose a detailed mode with access to camera feeds and controls for lights or fans. Following this, a new Areas dashboard overview lets users view and control key devices by room, using the updated Area card layout for easy navigation.
On the integrations front, version 2025.7 introduces sub-entries, allowing credentials to be managed centrally for main entries and shared with sub-entries. The integrations page reflects these capabilities with a refreshed design and expanded support. This release also adds four new integrations, updates existing ones, and includes other minor enhancements and various bug fixes aimed at improving system stability.
