Git client Tower 9.1 for Windows adds Gitea support, Gitmoji integration and other updates
Tower 9.1 for Windows introduces several updates aimed at both flexibility and user workflow for this powerful Git client. Most notably, this release adds support for [Gitea] as a remote service, expanding beyond existing integrations with GitHub, Bitbucket, and GitLab. This allows users of self-hosted, open-source Git platforms to manage repositories directly from Tower.
Additionally, Tower for Windows now offers native Gitmoji support. Developers can include standardized emojis in commit messages without installing additional tools, mirroring a feature previously available only on the Mac version, enabling more expressive and meaningful commit histories.
Also in this update, Tower now bundles Git 2.50, offering improved compatibility and performance. For teams working with Large File Storage (LFS), pulling LFS repositories is now more reliable. Furthermore, remote names update correctly following any renaming actions, ensuring better accuracy.
Finally, usability sees incremental improvements: repository matching logic has been refined, making connections to services more reliable. Visual adjustments increase separator visibility in dark mode, and the layout for parent-child branch relationships is now clearer within the interface.
