Google Doppl app lets users try on outfits with AI-powered image and video previews
Google has introduced Doppl, an experimental app from Google Labs offering virtual outfit try-ons powered by AI. Unlike Google's existing Shopping platform tool, Doppl operates as a standalone mobile app focused on style exploration and visualization.
To use the app, users upload a full-body photo of themselves. Doppl's AI then generates a realistic image showing the user in the selected outfit. Outfits can be chosen from screenshots, downloaded images, or personal photos, including those sourced from websites like Pinterest, Instagram or clothing stores. Doppl can also create AI-powered videos depicting the user in motion, wearing the chosen clothes.
Users are able to browse multiple looks, save favorite outfits, and share visualizations within the app. While Doppl is currently available only to users in the United States on both iOS and Android, Google advises that the app remains in early development and may not always provide fully accurate fit or detail for every piece of clothing. Additionally, the service could allow Google to collect data regarding user shopping preferences and behavior as part of its ongoing research.
