Black Forest Labs launches FLUX.1 Kontext [dev], a new 12B parameter image editing model
Black Forest Labs has released FLUX.1 Kontext [dev], a 12B parameter open-weight image editing model based on the proprietary FLUX.1 Kontext [pro]. It supports both local and cloud inference and is available under the FLUX.2 Non-Commercial License for research and non-commercial use. The model enables iterative editing, preserves character consistency across scenes, and allows precise global and local modifications.
The weights are hosted on Hugging Face and integrated with services like FAL, Replicate, Together AI, and ComfyUI. It is compatible with inference frameworks such as ComfyUI, Hugging Face Diffusers, and TensorRT, with optimized variants (BF16, FP8, FP4) designed for NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs.
Black Forest Labs also introduced a self-serve portal for commercial licensing and updated its Non-Commercial License terms to clarify permitted uses and content compliance. A technical report is available on arXiv.
