Anthropic expands Claude Code support to let developers use any remote MCP server
Anthropic has introduced support for remote Managed Code Platform (MCP) servers in Claude Code, allowing users to connect a wide range of third-party tools and data sources without managing local server infrastructure. By adding a vendor’s URL, developers can personalize their coding environment and reduce maintenance needs, as vendors handle updates, scaling, and availability.
Through remote MCP integration, Claude Code can access and act upon resources exposed by services such as development tools, project management apps, or knowledge bases. This approach provides the ability to automate workflows and enhance coding sessions with real-time context.
While the platform supports any remote MCP server, its expanding ecosystem ensures that new integrations and features are continually introduced. As a practical example, connecting Claude Code with the Sentry MCP server enables access to errors and issue data directly within the terminal, allowing developers to debug in context without switching tools.
Additionally, Claude Code incorporates native OAuth support for remote MCP connections, ensuring secure authentication when linking to existing accounts.
