Twitch adds vertical livestreams and 2K streaming beta, unveils rewind feature

Twitch now supports vertical livestreams, allowing mobile users to view content in portrait mode. Streams automatically adjust based on device orientation, while desktop viewers will still see landscape. Streamers will later be able to offer both formats simultaneously. Testing begins with select channels this summer, with wider rollout expected in 2025.

The platform is launching an open beta for 2K (1440p) streaming, available to all partners and affiliates. It offers sharper detail and better performance for gaming, creative, or chat streams. Interested streamers must join a waitlist to access the beta.

Twitch also introduced a rewind feature that will let viewers scrub backward during a livestream to catch missed moments. This tool is in testing and will be available to a select group of viewers this summer. Additional upcoming improvements include the combos feature for viewer interaction, streamer-run gift subscription promotions, enhanced clips, and a more accessible affiliate status.
