Spotify adds Following feed and personalized podcast picks to mobile app

Spotify is rolling out several podcast-focused updates to its mobile app centered on discovering new content. A new 'Following' feed in the Podcasts section of the Home screen lets users quickly view the latest episodes from followed shows. Spotify will also display personalized podcast recommendations beneath Home screen shortcuts, each with a short explanation of why it was suggested.

Individual podcast pages are set to feature a new 'In this episode' section. This addition provides curated links to content featured or mentioned in each episode, such as other podcasts, songs, audiobooks, or playlists. Podcast creators are given control to select which links appear in this section, helping listeners easily explore referenced material.

Alongside those navigation updates, the platform is also updating its podcast commenting system with threaded replies and emoji reactions, introduced in response to user feedback, while creators retain control over comment settings and can manage them at the show or episode level through the Spotify for Creators platform.
